By 2010, the number is projected to reach 250 million. This is the combined population of the UK, France, Germany and Spain. Merrill Lynch also estimates that by 2014 the Chinese could become the largest consumer of world luxury goods, accounting for a quarter of the industry's global revenues. There are 425,000 millionaires in the UK. China had 295,000 dollar millionaires in 2005, but this number is estimated to rise by 12% each year.
