Source
of Ozone:
In
A. D. 1785 a German, Van Marum by name, found that there was
a special smell of grass in the bracing air after thundershower
and later acknowledged the existence of ozone. An ozone (O3)
is formulated by combination of an oxygen molecule (O2) with
an oxygen atom (O), which is freed by ultraviolet radiation
in sunshine or produced by high voltage of lighting. Not until
1840, nevertheless, did a German chemist called Schonbein
name it ozone in Egyptian word "OZONE" which means
fresh air. Most ozone exists in the woods and on seashore,
except for the tremendous quantity of it in the upper stratus
of atmosphere warding off the ultraviolet rays.
Property
of Ozone:
Ozone is a triatomic form of oxygen with its molecular
formula of O3, molecular weight: 48, melting point:-192.70oC,
boiling point:-111.90oC, specific gravity: about 1.7 and 1.5
times greater than air and oxygen respectively. It is an inflammable
and easily water-soluble gas, with no color and no poison.
In its thin concentration it has a specific grassy smell of
the refreshing air near a forestry or beach, in the high concentration
it is bluish with a irritating pungent odor.
Ozone of O3 is an isotope of oxygen, a kind of highly active
and unstable gas whose one molecule even at the normal temperature
of 18-30oC quickly resolves into one O2 of oxygen and one
O of oxygen atom. When it reduces into oxygen, oxygen atoms
become free. An oxygen atom is extremely chemically active,
having very strong oxidizing, disintegrating and neutralizing
ability, three thousand times more powerful in killing bacteria
than chlorine.
Functions
and applications of ozone:
1. Oxidize, disintegrate and neutralize assorted innocuous
gases and substances such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide,
methane and benzene etc.
2. Has a strong ability to remove smoke and toxin, to bleach
and do good to health. Prolong the span of foods' freshness.
3. Retard and kill assorted bacteria and viruses such as mould,
cold virus and tubercle bacillus. Ozone is widely applied
in medical field, especially in treatment of allergy, asthma,
athlete's foot and dermatosis.
Introduction to Negative Ion:
There are positive and negative charges in the air. Integration
of positive charge and ion forms cation and that of negative
charge and ion forms anion. Discharge of a high-voltage-exerted
pin electrode is also able to produce voluminous anions. Anion
is able to agglomerate the suspended particles, smoke and
dust in the room into bigger granules that sink more quickly.
At the same time, The negative charged suspended particles
are absorbed by charged cellular net and distinctively designed
dust-collecting plate, the atmospheric ambience becomes clear
and bracing accordingly.
Functions
and applications of anions:
1. Be able to vitalize our cells, increase the oxygen
holding capacity of blood and improve metabolism. Teemed with
anions, cells are full of vim and vigor.
2. Be able to remove fatigue, boost our resistance to diseases
and ameliorate autonomic nervous system. Anions have a substantial
curative effect upon headache, insomnia, constipation, melancholy,
pollinosis and allergic rhinitis etc.
3. Anions with ozone are able to immediately remove the stink
of mould, the offensive odor of smoking, retard and kill colon
bacilli, dysenteric bacteria and tubercle bacillus etc. What's
more, Anions have also a special curative function in treatment
of chronic bronchitis and asthma.
